Snoopy
White Special Edition
Mohd introduces in collaboration with Flos a new special edition of the iconic lamp Snoopy, designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1967. Snoopy White Special Edition is born.
A special edition worth to be discovered in any detail, for true collectors.
The famous table lamp takes on a white colored lampshade, while the base turns to black. A game of contrasts and opposites that makes the icon even more exclusive and absolutely new.
New refined finishes and the same charm.
The special edition keeps the original details as the mark of authenticity, the thick crystal glass disc is fixed to the lampshade’s base with the three cooling holes recalling a bowling ball grip. The marble base hosts the on/off switch with a highly technological touch sensor dimmer, to adjust the light brightness.
Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni
The brothers Achille (1918-2002) and Pier Giacomo (1913-1968) Castiglioni are among the masters of Italian and worldwide design. They are famous for their design able to interpret the audience’s needs, putting the attention on deep research in shapes, techniques and new materials.
The Story of an Icon
It was 1967 when Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni gave life to one of the most iconic lamps of nineteenth century. The Snoopy’s ironic shape, which recalls the famouse beagle profile , protagonist of Charles M. Schulz’s comics, also reveals the central role of technology in this project: “a table lamp originating from a total new lighting conceps and therefore with a non-traditional shape”.
An Icon that made the History
Each element is studied to detail, such as the cylindrical marble base that hosts the electrical part and a “transistor regulator for the intensity of the light controlled by a small rotary knob”, a true innovation at the time. Each component, unlike what you’d say, is perfectly balanced with the others in an harmonious and poised composition obtained through a peculiar weight distribution.
