Set on the shores of the picturesque Gulf of Brucoli, Casa G is a renovation project of a 1960 home, curated by studio Puleo Architettura in collaboration with Mohd. Nestled between sea and land, the residence retains the charm of the original structure while incorporating innovative elements to suit the demands of contemporary living.
The house is divided into two distinct levels: the ground floor, designed as a hub for social gatherings, includes the kitchen, dining area, and conversation space.
The upper floor is dedicated to private and guest rooms, offering privacy and comfort in a refined setting that seamlessly blends natural materials like wood and pitch stone with modern details.
In a seamless dialogue with the surrounding nature, the house blends 1960s geometric forms with traditional materials.
The sober, linear façade is defined by the contrast between the ground floor in local stone and the upper level, distinguished by light-colored concrete surfaces.
This interplay of materials, along with the clever use of solids and voids, imparts both stability and lightness to the structure, with the second floor appearing to float above the solid stone base.
Expansive windows span the entire façade, opening up to the sea and flooding the interiors with natural light, fostering a fluid connection between inside and outside. The spacious patio encircles the house, extending to the garden and offering various areas for relaxation.
The residence directly faces the sea, offering breathtaking views of the horizon and Mount Etna in the distance. Careful attention to landscape details is evident in the manicured green spaces, where minimalist design harmonizes with Mediterranean vegetation, creating a serene and natural atmosphere.
In the dining area, natural light streams through the large windows, flooding the room and offering stunning views of the sea. At the heart of the space is a light wood dining table with organic lines, surrounded by matching chairs, creating an inviting setting for moments of togetherness.
The custom-made furniture enhances the simplicity of the design and the quality of the materials, while the wooden ceiling adds a warm, welcoming touch. The stone floor, with its natural texture, echoes the surrounding landscape, reinforcing the connection to the outdoor environment. Adjacent to the dining area, the kitchen features steel and wood surfaces, combining functionality with elegance and perfectly complementing the overall aesthetic of the space.
The conversation area is a cozy and refined space, shaped by meticulous attention to detail and expert spatial organization. A large sofa in warm, neutral tones offers a pleasing contrast to the natural stone floor. Beside it, an elegantly designed wooden armchair invites moments of relaxation and conversation. The central coffee table, with its light and minimalist design, discreetly adds functionality to the setting.
One of the most striking features is the open partition, which visually separates the dining area from the conversation space while maintaining a sense of continuity. This partition also serves as a display area for decorative objects, books, and artwork, adding both functionality and a personal touch to the design.
In the living area, the modular sofa takes center stage, upholstered in warm-toned velvet with soft, inviting shapes that encourage relaxation. At the heart of the space, a sleek, low wooden coffee table with minimalist lines serves as a discreet focal point, never overpowering the overall aesthetic. The neutral-toned walls are brought to life by vibrant artwork in warm, embracing hues, adding a layer of visual dynamism to the room.
A standout feature is the table lamp, elegantly placed on a wooden side table that complements the surrounding furnishings. The large opening to the garden further enhances the living experience, creating a seamless connection between the architecture and the natural surroundings.
