Pet design is increasingly important for prestigious companies that offer truly sophisticated solutions for pets at home.
Pet design deals with designing functional solutions in relation to the presence of pets in the home. An increasingly recurring circumstance since dogs and cats are often life companions even of those who live in homes with attention to detail, in which furnishings and accessories are chosen from the most prestigious collections.
In these contexts it would be a real shame to introduce kennels and other accessories with a neglected design that are not consistent with the surrounding environment.
This is why prestigious companies, such as Poltrona Frau, Giorgetti and Hay, have already opened a window onto the pet world for some years, trying to successfully design dedicated collections that are consistent, in terms of aesthetics and quality, with the home collections.
Material details for Giorgetti
Among the most sophisticated brands that have decided to test themselves with pet design is Giorgetti which stands out for its elegant style and refined materials. Giorgetti tackles the theme by following the path of color and visual consistency and proposes the Bau’House doghouse whose name is a cultured play on words that evokes the German Bauhaus school of design.
It is made of a double layer of light leather woven on the outside with a small flap that accommodates the pet. Inside there is a washable cushion available in different colours.
An extensive pet collection for Poltrona Frau
Poltrona Frau dedicates a rather extensive collection to the theme of pet design, in which the kennel in perfect line with the company’s style stands out first and foremost. Ergonomic, designed to respect the dog’s joints, it is made up of an external part in fine Pelle Frau® leather and an internal part covered in waterproof, removable and washable fabric.
To complete the collection there are also the plaid, useful for hosting dogs and cats on the sofa, the collar with leash and bag and the elegant carrier.
The informal and captivating collections of Fatboy and Hay
Interesting and quality with a lively and informal style are those proposed by Fatboy and Hay. The first offers the Doggielounge kennel, designed for a dog but also suitable for cats: in water-repellent and stain-resistant fabric, it is suitable for both indoors and outdoors and matches perfectly with the large cushion seats offered by the same company for people.
Hay goes further and offers a complete collection for pets. The kennels are kaleidoscopic and available in various sizes, to be combined with the colored ceramic bowls but also with the rope toys and the inevitable collar and leash sets. Let’s not forget that in most cases games and small tools are left on the floor in random places in the house, which is why it is worth choosing them also thinking about aesthetics and not just functionality.
Just for cats: the proposals of Qeeboo and Alessi
Precisely in relation to the formal aspect of kennels and other accessories, the Cat Cave cat kennel designed by Stefano Giovannoni for Queeboo is very interesting. The idea is that of two overlapping stones, each with an opening in different directions.
Inside the lower part there is a scratching post while in the upper part there is a hanging ball for playing. Because, if the cat is having fun and feeling good, it makes the owner feel good too. Even the cat’s bowl can be transformed into a decorative excuse with Tigrito by Miriam Mirri for Alessi: a kitten with a long tail in the center of two steel bowls.
